The MPCS PAC exists to advocate on behalf of the MPCS parents, to elevate the student experience through communication, inclusive community building, and enhanced programming and infrastructure inline with the changing needs of our school community.

As the school year winds down, the PAC has been hard at work updating our strategic plan for the next three years as a PAC. A huge thanks to Katherine Tilley @tilleykath of The Workjoy Company for donating your time and expertise to lead our strategic review process! If you’re interested in joining the PAC Exec or helping lead specific programs, please dm us! We’d love to have you join us.

Sweater drawer feeling a little light? Come by the school lost and found and see if any of your missing items are there. All items will go to the reuse it centre if not picked up by Thursday! Please note, higher value items such as watches are held in the school office.

Thank you all who made fun day a success! Thank you Nesters Market for the donation of hot dogs and bananas to refuel the kids after all the running around and Marnie Melsted and Josie Macdonald for organising and cooking the food. Thank you Ainsley Conway, Katherine and Craig Tilley and Allie Smith for organising and all the parent volunteers for running the games!

You are invited to join the MPCS AGM on Wednesday, June 10, 1-2pm in the Alex Philip lounge. Come hear what the PAC has been up to this year, vote for next year’s executive and hear about what’s planned for next year. We’re also looking for additional caregivers to get involved in the PAC, both in executive or non-executive roles. Come to hear more.

Reminder: All school library books are due back by Monday, June 8 to allow time to organise before year end. Please search for any books that may have gone walk-abouts!

Volunteer Appreciation Tea - you are invited! Friday, May 29, 1:30-2:30pm in the library.

We appreciate you! You volunteer for Hot Lunch, you help at PAC events, you help with harvest soup, you help with fun day, you help supervise field trips, you coach school teams, you help out in the library, you support literacy through repeated reading...You give so much to your own kids and their friends and we appreciate YOU parents! Any caregivers that have volunteered in any capacity this year at Myrtle Philip are invited.

The school will have our Volunteer Tea on Friday, May 29 from 1:30 to 2:30. Come have some tea, a treat, and a chat with the other parents.

Thank you! We hope you had a great time coming together as a school community at our May Day event. May Day and our silent auction are the MPCS PAC’s largest fundraiser of the year, providing crucial funds for enrichment activities for MPCS students. Combined, we made over $17,000!!!

We have so many people to thank! Thank you to everyone who helped out to make the night a success, to everyone that attended, to the amazing businesses that donated items to the auction and to everyone that bid on auction items or shared with friends and family.

We also want to take a moment to reflect on what we’re able to do with these funds. Two things you might have heard about from your kids in just the last month that were made possible from PAC funding were the painting classes with an instructor from the Audain Art Museum and the adaptive sports games and demonstrations from Whistler Adaptive. These are just two examples of the enrichment activities the PAC endeavours to support year after year. There are many others. None of it would be possible without our amazing school community, our volunteers and our wider Whistler community. Thank you!!!

May Day Celebration - tonight!

We can wait to see everyone tonight at our annual May Day BBQ and Carnival, happening 5-7pm at the Myrtle Philip school!

In addition to the BBQ, there's going to be a host of fun to be had with games, tasty treats like cotton candy and popcorn, some special performances by our students, photo booth, face painting, musical cakes, 50/50 raffle and more!

New Night: Math Night for Parents - Monday, Apr 27, 6-7pm

Ever hear your kid talk about how they solve a math problem and have no idea what they are talking about? Ever try to show your kid how you do a math problem and they look at you with confusion?! If so, help is here!

Tamara Beaton, SD 48's math coordinator for the Instructional Leadership Team is going to be coming to the MPE Library to do a parent talk and seminar on math instruction in schools.

Numeric fluency requires parents and schools to be on the same page. The way we learned math 20+ years ago is very different from the way we teach it now, so it's important that we help you "catch up" so to speak so you can support your child.

We will have take-homes for you and door prizes, so make sure you or your partner attend!

We hope to be able to run a math evening each term in the future.

Reminder: Yearbook orders due by Friday!

Myrtle Philip Community School yearbook orders open. All orders must be placed by Friday, May 1 for mid-June delivery.

All orders via SchoolCash Online. Cost is $30/book. A portion of proceeds will support the Myrtle Philip library.

Yearbooks will be delivered mid-June.

Stuffie drive! We are looking for donated stuffies for prizes for May Day! If you have any good quality stuffies that your child has fallen out of love with, we would love to have them! A donation box will be set up in the school office.

Tonight’s parent’s math night has been postponed due to facilitator illness. A new date and time will be communicated as soon as confirmed.

None of our events and programs would run without the support of Parent Volunteers. Here are the ways you can be involved:

1. Events: If you would like to help this year at any of our events please email us with the "Get in Touch" button. We also send out emails close to event dates with a sign up link to enable you to sign up for the event.

2. Hot Lunch: We are always short on Hot Lunch Volunteers so if interested please visit the link on our Instagram bio. Shifts are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 12:00-1 PM

3. Social Media: Keep in the loop with our regular updates! Facebook - Myrtle Philip Community School PAC / Instagram - mpcs_pac. Our current volunteer calls will be posted there!
